The Lord will Build His House
2 Samuel 7:1-11,16

On this 4th Sunday in Advent, preaching towards the restoration of all things, we remember God made a covenant with King David to have one of his sons sit on a throne forever. We first see the extent of the gospel in this covenant promise: the gospel will go to the ends of the earth till the end of time.
The Lord Jesus will build his house. He will build the church, a multi-generational, international body of people who will worship him. We are that church and, one day, the whole earth will worship him.
