Wise men of the past spent decades crafting biblical, clear and concise statements of the Christian faith in order to hand down to us. What they took 50 years to prepare, we can learn in 50 days. What they dedicated a lifetime towards, our children can have in their heads and hearts by the time they’re out of high school! That is what we mean by standing on shoulders.

If we are to pass on the faith, we must hold to a statement older than us because it can summarize the faith better than we could, it can provide a standard of faith for us to judge our beliefs by and it can be passed on to the next generation of believers.
