Come, Put Us Back Together
Isaiah 9:6

On this fourth Sunday in Advent, we return to a purple candle in keeping with repentance. When the light shines on us, the first thing that it does is reveal our own sin. When the Prince of Peace comes, He makes war with us as a means of bringing all wars to an end. The Prince who was born at Christmas comes to put all our broken pieces back together. O Come, Desire of nations bind, in one the hearts of humankind, O bid our sad divisions cease and be for us the king of peace.
